Home Style Cooking is based in Brisbane, Ipswich, the Gold Coast and their surrounding areas. We specialise in providing basic cooking skills for beginner cooks. It is our sincerest hope that on completion of our classes participants will be masterful in the basic fundamentals of cooking, which will enable you to cook from scratch: * cakes, biscuits, scones and pikelets; * pastry, pasta and bread; * roasts dinners; * quick and easy main meals; * simple desserts; * sauces and dips; * tasty barbeque and picnic catering; and * easy hors dâ??oeuvres and appetisers. On completion of the classes participants should also have an understanding of: * how to read and interpret a recipe; * basic measurements; * an understanding of cooking terms; * basic knife skills; * food storage ideas; * the staple ingredients to always have in your pantry; * how to wash up to ensure clean dishes every time while conserving water; and * how to minimise or avoid food poisoning.
