Melbourne Private Schools introduces Mclaren Vale Primary School in McLaren Flat, for all your education and learning needs.

McLaren Vale Primary School is situated in the picturesque gateway to the Southern Vales and has a wide catchment area. A school zone was introduced in 2011 to allow local children the first right of enrolment and to manage the demand on resources. 2014 commences with 17 classes from Reception to Year 7, with only two classes being composite year levels. Year levels are grouping into distinct building spaces, allowing classes to interact easily and to ensure that they have access to their resource needs. Our staff has a blend of expertise and experience with many staff having been at the school for a number of years. Teachers are planning from the new National Curriculum in nearly all areas of study with only a couple still based on the old South Australian Curriculum and Accountability Framework (SACSA).

Teachers work collaboratively to plan and program a rich learning program with an emphasis on the development of literacy and numeracy skills, personal wellbeing and encouragement for all students to achieve their personal best. Additional support and intervention programs are also offered from Reception to Year 7 and the school works closely with the regional Support team for additional support as appropriate (eg speech pathologists).

The school's facilities have recently been upgraded and now includes brick buildings for all home classes, two playgrounds, netball/basketball court, multipurpose hall and large oval space. There are a number of vegetable patches as well as a chook pen which are constantly being expanded upon as part of our involvement in the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program.

An out of school hours care program (OSHC) runs each morning and afternoon, providing valuable support and care for a large number of working families. A program also runs each holidays in conjunction with other local schools.

McLaren Vale Primary School has an active parent body including the Governing Council and a range of sub-committees supporting key school priorities. Our school actively encourages parental involvement and we look forward to meeting and working with you as a member of our school community over the coming years.
