The school is committed to developing independent learning in all students so that they have a capacity for a future of life-long learning. The school created the expectation that most, if not all students, would progress to HSC level. Year 10 students were given experience in the use of telematics for the delivery of HSC courses. Students in Years 9 and 10 studied some preliminary and HSC courses while still completing their School Certificate. The school had innovative programs to provide education for rural students up to year 12. The school provided education in Years 11 and 12 via the Western Access Program where teachers from seven small schools shared the delivery of courses using telematics. The hub school of the program was Peak Hill Central School.
