The Field of Mars Environmental Education Centre is located in a reserve of remnant urban bushland between the Lane Cove and Parramatta Rivers. It is close to the historic and urban areas of Gladesville, Hunters Hill and Ryde. The Centre provides environmental education and diverse direct learning experiences for good quality fieldwork for students Kindergarten to Year 12. Programs emphasises collaboration with the classroom teachers to suit their school curricula. Several different sites are used including school grounds and near schools. The Centre caters for fieldwork in both natural and built environments. Fieldwork is carried out on a day basis, therefore most students are from schools within one and a half hours travel time. The Centre also provides support, advice and resources to teachers and, through them, to students. It is also a venue for school meetings and workshops.
